GreenCIC undertakes a UNDP-funded project on transformation and implementation of projects under Article 6 of the Paris Agreement and the Nationally Determined Agreement (NDC).

The United Nations Development Program (UNDP) has contracted with Green Climate Innovation Company Limited (Green CIC) to implement the project “Assessment of applicability of carbon projects under requirement of Article 6 of Paris Agreement and Viet Nam NDC contribution; and the suggested procedure and criteria for transition, selection of projects to contribute to Viet Nam NDC”.

The project's tasks will be carried out by experts from Green CIC, who have many years of consulting experience in carbon markets, and Dr. Vu Tan Phuong - Director of the Vietnam Forest Certification Office, who has more than 28 years of working in the forestry sector.

The expert group will conduct the assessment from December 30, 2022, to July 31, 2023, with the goal of assessing the feasibility of carbon projects in Vietnam under existing mechanisms to meet the requirements in Article 6 of the Paris Agreement and its contribution to the NDC Vietnam objective thereby identifies the policy and financial barriers of stakeholders to project development. Based on the results of the assessment, a set of criteria, as well as proposed procedures for the transition and selection of projects to contribute to Vietnam's NDC, will be determined. Along with that, draft policy documents will be developed to inform the Vietnamese government about this process.
