Support for planning and implementation of the Nationally Determined Contributions in Vietnam (SPI-NDC)

On 01 July 2022, GreenCIC signed two contracts with the Oversea Environmental Cooperation Center (OECC) for project Support for planning and implementation of the Nationally Determined Contribution in Vietnam (SPI-NDC). 

In 2020, Vietnam has submitted the updated Nationally Determined Contribution (NDC) according to the Paris Agreement. The NDC communicates Vietnam’s effort in national emission reduction and adaptation to the impacts of climate change, which contributes to the global response to climate change.

GreenCIC was assigned to support the planning and the implementation of the NDC in Vietnam by providing assessment and training on Common Tabular Format (CTF), and organising training and developing training materials on facility level GHG emission accounting and reporting for private companies. 

Assessment and Training on Common Tabular Format (CTF)

In this assignment, the expert team of GreenCIC will perform the following tasks:

• Task 1: Develop recommendations on modalities for the accounting of NDC;
• Task 2: Determine progress tracking indicators on selected NDC options among available and/or possible data sets;
• Task 3: Draft a set of proposed descriptions to be filled in CTF on progress tracking and accounting of mitigation actions under the NDC;
• Task 4: Design and conduct a training session for officers and researchers in MONRE, line ministries and relevant institutions to prepare a description for CTF on progress tracking of mitigation actions;
• Task 5: Facilitate stakeholder consultation on the preparation of CTF and establishing the coordination mechanism in light of the accounting perspective.

Training on Facility level GHG Emission Accounting and Reporting for Private Companies including Development of Training Materials

In this assignment, the expert team of GreenCIC will perform the following tasks:

• Task 1: Develop training materials based on the curriculum finalized by JICA SPI-NDC Team;
• Task 2: Cooperate with JICA SPI-NDC Team to design and conduct a series of hands-on training sessions for selected private companies to prepare for calculating GHG emissions at the facility level;
• Task 3: Develop a report on the previous activities.
